Travis’ Discipleship Update April 2022

The greatest encouragement lately, in the work with Discipleship International, has come from seeing those in our discipleship classes being so active in discipling others.

In other words not just being a disciple but making disciples.

In our local class on Tuesday nights in Vancouver all the members have been going to downtown Vancouver on Saturdays to share their faith. Here was one of the interactions during their evangelism time.

Great day of evangelism today. After talking with a fellow name Jot about proofs for God’s existence, he told me he’d really like to believe because he’s tired of the nihilism of an atheistic, existentialist worldview. I told him that we ought to seek God while we can. That he isn’t far from us, as the apostle Paul says in Acts 17. Gave him and his friend a gospel of John and a tract as they went on their way, and invited him to ask me any questions via my website at milliondollaranswers.ca.

Eastern Africa

In the group on Tuesdays with the team from Eastern Africa, Pastor Makku has started up Book 1's in the Congo. These are our first groups in this country. Pray as we begin Book 3 in May for the group to remain faithful, available and teachable.

Middle East

From the Thursday group Shahid is leading a number of groups in P*kistan via zoom and will be going to meet with the groups in person in May. Many of these groups are part of an outreach to the border of Afghanistan to support refugees. The translation of the Equip to Serve discipleship training into the local dialects has opened so many doors to reach many and get them into the Word and Christ centred relationships.

John who is the same group as Shahid on Thursdays, has had a major storm go through their village with heavy damage. We have been able to send funds to help with the community rebuild. Pray for John as he heads from his village to the border of Burma next week to support refugees and begin discipleship training. Pray for their village and for the church to be a lighthouse in tragedy. Also, pray for John as he travels next week.

Mexico

We are excited to have a team of 7 from DI heading to Monterrey, Mexico at the beginning of July to join a team from all over Mexico in supporting the local churches in evangelism as well as work in the prisons and recovery centres. Pray for Sue and Valdemar as they lead this team and for hearts to be prepared to hear the gospel.

DI Golf & Dinner Fundraiser is back in May

Golf and dinner are back on in May after a two year hiatus. We are hosting our golf fundraiser at Guildford Golf Centre on May 28th and the dinner the following day on May 29th at Crossridge Church in Surrey. We will have updates from Eastern Africa, I*ndia, B*ngl*desh, P*akistan and Cuba at this fundraiser. Please pray that this will be an event that honours God and highlights the need for more workers in the harvest of making disciples of all nations.
