In the Equip to Serve training, you will be using the ETS books with your small group and ETS group leader to develop a deeper relationship with God through daily quiet times, scripture memory, learning to share your faith and disciple others.

The Equip to Serve training consists of 6 books of 12 weekly sections with self-study assignments for you to complete with your small group, with opportunities to put what you learn into practice, such as giving your testimony, sharing the gospel with the Bridge Illustration and serving in local missions.

 Frequently Asked Questions

  • A person is more likely to persevere in training if someone is keeping them accountable, so is a Christian more likely to persevere if consistent in the foundations of the faith. Reading the Word, memorizing scripture and sharing our faith are key to maturing in Christ. When someone walks the journey with them and has a vested interest in their spiritual maturity, growth takes place.

Discipleship International focuses on second base in a Christians’ walk, while first base represents salvation, and third base serving. Most Christians have not spent a lot of time establishing and equipping themselves in their faith that they may reach maturity and be used by God more effectively in serving because the serving comes out of a deep relationship with Christ.

  • A desire to grow through a deepened relationship with Christ and spiritual disciplines.

Students commit to 12 two hour weekly sessions with about two hours of homework including: reading, memorizing and studying God’s Word. 5 more 12-week courses are offered to complete the training. Throughout the training students are offered opportunities to put into practice what they are learning.

  • Anything worth doing takes commitment. While shorter training can be done it often lacks long term growth in peoples’ faith. We, at DI, have experienced that it is better to challenge people to mature over the long term in their faith and walk with God.

  • Each Equip to Serve book costs CAD $30. The total cost is CAD $180 for six books in the ETS training.

  • A disciple is a follower of Christ. “Discipling is an intentional relationship in which we walk alongside other Christians in order to encourage, equip and challenge one another in love to grow towards maturity in Christ.” — Colossians 2:6-7

  • Our ETS groups meet in person all over the world as well as online wherever you are. Find a group or contact us for details.

  • By giving your church members a tried and tested format for meeting with one another, keeping each other accountable, and training each other to grow in knowing Jesus Christ through relationships and living out the teaching of the Bible. Each leader has been trained to create and cultivate relationship. Students are invited to participate in the life of the leader, and each other, as they live out their Christian walk.

  • Contact the DI office to arrange a time to discuss getting the first discipleship group started. We will provide a trained leader who will begin the first group until those in your church are trained disciple makers.

It is the heart’s desire of DI board members, staff and leaders to see churches produce disciple producing disciples. The students’ perseverance results in a deeper relationship with Christ, evidenced by their phenomenal fruit. We desire to follow what Christ did, build into a small number of disciples and train them to do likewise. All our trainers are members in a local church body. Serving the local church body in their gifted areas and seeking to train up disciple making disciples.

The Olive Tree Bible App

olivetree.com

Travis’ Recommendation: The Olive Tree Bible App is my default mobile Bible. I use it for devotions every day, usually from my iPad... The split window lets me keep a Greek and Hebrew window open as I read, and the pop-up lexicons fill in the gaps in my memory. The copy-and-paste features let me copy and paste easily to Twitter if I want to create a tweet out of something moving from my devotions.

Never before has the Bible been so easily accessible. Go there over and over again through the day. It is the voice of God.
