Six Lifelong Skills I’ve gained from ETS

Discipleship International’s Equip to Serve program has helped me tremendously in my journey as a Christian. I have built solid foundations through the courses and training. The program has given me a wide range of memorized scripture verses that I understand and frequently draw from as I go through various stages and challenges in my life. Equip to Serve covers important biblical teachings that have equipped me with a broad range of knowledge that is rooted in scripture. More importantly, the ETS program provides encouragement and opportunities to get out and apply the foundational knowledge to serving in ministry and community.

The relational aspect of DI creates an environment of encouragement, support, challenge and accountability. I made friendships in the program with people that I can maintain fellowship with. My group and I can speak to our leaders dedication and heart for spreading the Gospel and building up leaders.

Some of the most important lifelong skills I have gained from the program are:

  1. A solid, organized testimony that is compelling, easy to communicate and to understand. This has been very useful many times.

  2. A format to explain the Gospel message to people in a way that is truthful, on point and captivating.

  3. Scripture memory verses that I can draw from to help myself and others through life’s journey.

  4. Solid understanding of biblical truths and teachings.

  5. Courage and practise at getting up and speaking to a group or to individuals about Christ.

  6. The importance of daily time spent with God, including prayer and devotionals.

While there is no “cookie cutter” formula to having a relationship with God, Equip to Serve has given me such a tremendous foundation as I walk with God throughout my life.
