Belinda’s Update July 2024
Just came back from Cuba and Mexico a week ago. It was an amazing mission and it was my first time in Cuba.
God led us into an amazing and challenging trip. I believed the brothers and sisters were encouraged. The team consisted of Valdemar (DI Mexico Director) and Irma (they went 3 times to teach), Ismael (Tehuacan Director) and me. I will talk more later as I have an announcement.
I want to thank you all for praying and supporting me financially all these years. God has brought us together on an amazing journey of 24 years in Full time MInistry. I am officially changing my Status with DI at the end of August. I would not say retiring since I am volunteering to teach ETS, mentor, and go on Short Term Mission. Cards and tracts giving will continue as well.
I would encourage you to pray about supporting our DI Staffs - Travis Whims (DI Director) or Valdemar (DI Director Mexico). If you are willing, please contact our DI office by email : office@discipleshipint.org or call at 604-275-0850. I praise God for all the work He has done through the staffs locally and globally. Our global ministry has expanded beyond our expectations.
In Cuba, we did all visitations through the 2 local churches. They were well prepared as the people were expecting us when we visited them. Just an example of a visit with an 85 old lady who initially said she did not sin at all. After we explained about the Bridge Illustration and the 10 Commandments, she prayed to receive the Lord. She is already in a ladies small group from the church. Praise God. There are many stories like this.
Another is an example of a young adult who would not forgive his father but eventually he did after we shared with him and he prayed to receive the Lord. He even came to church that night and came out for prayers.
We had some challenges such as health, lack of transportation, Hurricane Beryl (did not touch Havana) and the car broke down. But God helped us to overcome each hurdle. God is so good!!
We celebrated the church graduation. One has 4 graduates including the Pastor. Right now he is teaching Book 1 and 4. He is a humble man of God. We also attended 2 civil weddings and met their families at meal times. It was a joyous time for us.
Then we went to Tehuacan ( 4 hours bus ride from Mexico City) for 4 days. We visited a Book 6 class in Puebla City ( 2 hours from Mexico City). They were really committed and did well in the training. We rejoiced that God has started ETS in this area.
After that we attended Krystal ( DI leader for many years) and Martin in Tehuacan. It was a reunion with some Pastors and leaders we worked with in Tehuacan for many years on our Missions trips.
I even met up with with some old friends whom we had not seen for 20 years. They just came back from another city and are now pastoring in Tehuacan. It was a joy to reconnect with them again.
Again I am grateful to God and appreciate each one of you who has walked with me for these 24 years. You are a family to me. you are on my team each time I go on STM. Your prayers and your gifts are "a fragrant offering, a sacrifice acceptable and pleasing to God." ( Philippians 4:18) All Glory be to God and God alone!! Amen.
