Response to COVID-19

Although many of us are struggling to come to grips with the state of the world at this moment there is a great opportunity as a community of Believers to help each other and grow in our faith individually and as a family. One area in particular that we can grow in is our prayer lives as we have fewer event distractions to keep us busy and away from time with God.

Lets' Commit to Pray

“We tend to use prayer as a last resort, but God wants it to be our first line of defense. We pray when there's nothing else we can do, but God wants us to pray before we do anything at all.― Oswald Chambers

We at Discipleship International would encourage us all to spend an extended time in prayer this Saturday, March 21st and every day that we can during this time of

self-isolating ourselves . If you have never spent an extended time in prayer we have attached some resources for you to help you navigate the day. Do it as a family in your home or individually but take this opportunity to avail yourself of the amazing opportunity we have to be with Jesus.

We would also encourage you to spend extended time in the Word and in memorizing Scripture. Some suggestions.

  1. Teach your family to have a quiet time and then share them together each evening  - Use the How to Have a Quiet Time Resource
  2. Challenge each other to memorize scripture - Have a scripture memory challenge (who can memorize the most in a given time). Use the How to Memorize Scripture Resource and Verses to Memorize
  3. Call or Facetime neighbours and friends to see how they are doing and pray together. Offer to help if necessary.
  4. Share your testimony and gospel with those in your circles. Use the Bridge Diagram or the app called Share your faith
  5. You can find more resources at Discipleship International resources password access

For those that are able, I would encourage you to keep up your discipleship classes and small groups using platforms like Skype, Zoom and Facetime. If you need help with this contact us at 604-506-2862.
