The Community of Hope has been serving the east side of Vancouver for the last 18 years. It is located at 535 East Broadway, Vancouver, BC. Pastor Kim Yong-Woon has been in charge of the Community of Hope for the full 18 years. The Community of Hope is open Tuesday to Saturday from noon to 2:00 pm. The service is from 12:40 pm to 1:10 pm. The service usually consists of music for the the first 5 or 10 minutes followed by a sermon. Food is given to people for their lunch following the service. Usually on Saturdays there are about 20 people who come to the service. Following the service about 30 additional people come in for the food only. The food is served to the people by people from Pastor Yong's Korean church.
Discipleship International has been invited to participate on the third Saturday of each month with the exceptions of July, August & December. Our participation will include such things as testimony, bridge illustration & sermon. Pastor Yong would like us to appreciate the importance of starting and stopping on time. Pastor Yong has also graciously invited all participants to stay for lunch after the service. This is a good opportunity to discuss one on one with the visitors on subjects related to the message given in the service. There is not really a convenient room for pre-service prayer, so each group leader should make there own arrangements with their group for pre-service prayer and post service debriefing and fellowship. I think that the maximum number of participants who should come would be four.
